“The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate the extent of human stupidity.”

 - Voltaire

I'm easily irritated by lack of intelligence and common sense. More so than usual these days, thanks to this no smoking crap. Wandering about the intertubes, I see so much stupidity and I can't bear it, and I want to snark the shit out of it, preferably in a community of some sort, but I left [livejournal.com profile] stupid_free and [livejournal.com profile] sf_drama because I couldn't stand one more minute of the intensely annoying US-centrism.

[livejournal.com profile] mock_the_stupid
is simply out of the question. It's got [livejournal.com profile] opalcat, for crying out loud. There's more stupidity among the members than in what they mock.

In other words, I'm sorely tempted to set up a non-US-centric community for the pointing and laughing at stupid fuckwits.

By the by, as far as I can tell, it seems almost safe to pay for LJ again. The Russians haven't done anything that's annoyed me in quite a while. And I so miss my icons and my edit option.

I sympathize with you on having to listen to all the US bullshit going on around here on LJ. I'm quite tired of it all myself. To be fair though, LJ was US-centric to begin with (started by some guy in Iowa) so one can't be too surprised that it's come back around again.

If you're looking for a name to scare the majority of us off, I'd suggest Russian or Korean (Islam if you're daring). Germany hasn't been on the "evil list" for years now, so you probably won't have much luck with Snarkenfreude.

I'm thinking about Canadian citizenship at the moment. Can I join your community when I become Canadian? Hahaha.

I don't mind Americans at all*, but I do mind US-centrism a great deal. If I recall correctly, Russians are the majority of the active LJ users (hence the Russians becoming very interested in owning LJ), there's a ton of Europeans here and there's no reason at all to assume that everyone in a community is right there with ya on US-specifics.

I'd welcome Americans. Being too assholey USian would be a bannable offense, though.

The idea becomes more and more appealing.

*I mind some of you very much, but that goes for all nationalities.

I agree, but we must keep up our reputation of being egotistical bastards in every way possible.

The way I see it, your goal to is "avoid a good deal US people and their silly topics" not bash them (too much). Besides, under the LJ Terms of Service, why haven't those stupid people bashing communities been banned?

I'm all for bashing when deserved, but really I'd just be happy if I could mock stupid racism wihtout having to explain to a ton of LJ-Americans that the definition of racism they're so fond of isn't terribly popular elsewhere. It really gets to me when "hurr hurr whitey thinks blackie can be racist" is posted as stupid.

Such comms are toeing a line, but as long as personal journals don't come into play, they're mostly good.
